Unglamorous Remodel

This isn’t very exciting…but it needed to be done. This area of the house has not seen any painting or remodel attention for 14 years: The downstairs hallway. My goal was to remove anything distracting to potential buyers. So, the light switch original to the house (1936)

was switched out.

Amazingly, it took a whole day for this project. Mostly due to the abundant trim work. Whew! Done.

  1. Looks great!!

  2. Ah, but the satisfaction of a job done… 😉

  3. It’s amazing how fixing the little things changes the look. The fewer distractions, the faster you’ll sell the house.

  4. Congratulations on such a great job! I am amazed that you did everything in just one day, it would have taken me three years! At the least! Have you ever written a post on procrastination? You seem to be very good at not doing it! I am the worse procrastinator on the planet!

    • Beatrice–I think that when we procrastinate, we are ambivalent about the action we think we must do.
Pulling my toddler back from car traffic–instantaneous, reflexive, no delay.
Divorcing the toddler’s father took almost 2 years. The benefit of the action was not so clear cut to me.
So–if you procrastinate….ask yourself, “What are the benefits, what are the down-sides to this choice?” And you do not have to more forward, until it is clear. Unless there is a car/train/bomb bearing down on you. Then you just make the best choice you can.

This is great. I have holes to fix and things and I never get to it. But it does seemt o make a big difference!
